PACKING UP AND HEADING SOUTH. Or out, whichever is better. ;)

HEADING OUT! :D

The time has come to pack up my things and head on out of trinityhelix.

As much as I'd like to still be part of all my communities, I just don't have the time to keep up with all the posts anymore. I haven't been active in fandom for a while now as well, so I've moved to another username that will focus only on my real life.

Be warned, though, that I won't be making fandom posts there. Perhaps an artpiece or two every now and then, but nothing fan-related. So if that's all right with you guys, (and you're actually interested in what's going on with my life right now), please hop on over to: labuenaventura

You'll notice that I've already taken the liberty of adding some of you, so if you want out (or in), just let me know and I'll hop to it. :) The posts are all public, though, as this is now the forwarded address for my domain http://lizzbuenaventura.com

Anyway, thank you all for several great years on this journal. I love you guys! :D *hugs*

Whee. :)

Wow, this is probably the longest hiatus I've ever had from LJ, and it was totally unintended and unplanned for. XD I've been in Tokyo for a little over a month now, and everything's going fairly well. I've made new friends, learned a lot of the language, and I've managed to turn my little apartment into a fairly decent place to live. Going to Yokohoma for the weekend, so that should be fun as well. :)

Right. Now that all that Real Life stuff is out of the way, we go to the truly important stuff: Fandom. XD

Before I left, my brother put his Supernatural episodes onto my portable HD and told me to watch them when I had free time. Since I didn't get the internet hooked up in my apartment until two fricking days ago, these basically served as my entertainment for the past month that I've been here. XDDD

And wow, what an awesome bit of entertainment it is. Like all genre shows, it's got a lot of interesting mythology, hot actors, and yes, a great sense of humor. I think that the snark is about as well-written as the dialogue in Firefly and Buffy, which is saying a lot. Anybody who has siblings will know what I mean. :D

And of course, there's also the shameless pandering to rabid slash fangirls the producers manage to stick into every other episode. I am SO not ashamed to be an advocate of Wincest because hell, the boys do everything but actually make out on screen. (The whole 'playful wrestling in bed' in Season 2's Episode 15 (which is incidentally the funniest episode I've seen on TV on ANY show in a long time) reduced me to a wibbling, giggling fangirl mess.) If you do nothing else today, download it from www.piratebay.org

Trust me.

In any case, I got the internet just in time to download last Thursday's new episode, which was part one of a 2-part season finale. It broke my heart, my brain, and just... yes. Words fail me. There is embracing, sorrowful weeping, and as much angst as can possibly be wrenched from Dean Winchester.

And the promo for next week's episode?

Bobby: The world's about to end.
Dean: Then let it end.

Fuck. My heart has shattered into a thousand tiny pieces of PAIN.

Go. Download. Share the sweet, sweet brotherly <strike>love</strike> angst. (Season finale is episode 21 of the second season. You don't actually need to watch the previous episodes to wilt under the power of Winchester!love. Just go watch it: http://thepiratebay.org )

Touchdown in Tokyo!

Had my orientation at Chuo Daigaku today, and there were 30 exchange students from all over the world. It was quite an experience, and very exciting! :)

It did a lot to quell my initial nerves about being here, and I was further settled when the lovely Ai Ling came all the way to the nearest station to see me. I LOVE YOU AI LING!!

Tomorrow is my placement test (I suck at Nihongo so I think I`ll be starting at the lowest level, haha), and I`m just so happy to be here. This is the initial euphoria stage that they discussed at the orientation (during the lecture on Culture Shock and its stages). Haha. Next is irritability. Hopefully i`ll be in the euphoria stage for longer. XDDD

Despedida!

This is an open invitation to all the people on my friends list who are in the Philippines! :D I'm having my despedida party this Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Austin Powers room in Victoria Court, Pasig.

Bring a date or bring a friend; just let me know how many people to expect in advance! There will be food and drinks, but feel free to bring in extra booze. (The drug of choice for the night is gin plus whatever chasers you want with that. ;D)

RSVP to this post if you're coming; all comments are screened. ;D My cell number is 09178370924.

(Oh, and please don't brink e, coke, or any other substance that might get me arrested. XD)

This is what the venue looks like:

See you there! :D

Ups and Downs.

Good news: The UP Fine Arts Class of 2007 had its Thesis exhibit opening last night, and I was given the Award of Merit for my paper ("Utilizing Color as the Primary Vehicle for Storytelling in Visual Media"). The exhibit is in the V-mall Lobby (greenhills), and it'll run until March 31. Please feel free to drop by if you have the time!

Bad news: I went to the Japanese embassy and they haven't released my visa due to a discrepancy in my middle name in my birth certificate and passport (Ang as opposed to Angtenghim). I have to go back on Friday with more documents, and that's when I'll find out if I've gotten it.

If I don't get my visa, I'll be the only person in the entire history of the University of the Philippines exchange program to be fricking turned down.

I feel ill.

Chuo University~

Not breaking Hiatus yet, but I just had to blog about this.

My Official Acceptance Letter for Chuo University (Tokyo, Japan) came via EMS this morning and the... well, /officialness/... of the whole thing finally set in. *rubs face* Even when my University said I'd gotten it a few months back, I still didn't really believe it. I kept expecting the admin lady to suddenly grin and elbow me in the ribs. "Just kidding." ^_^;;

Anyway, my packet basically has all the info/papers regarding the scholarship-- free tuition, free boarding, etc. Now I'm just waiting to see if my other scholarship (for a living allowance from another foundation) pushes through, and then I'm all set. If I don't get the other scholarship, I'll look for a job when I get there. Either way, it looks like I'm pretty set to go.

Unless I have trouble with my visa or other papers, I should be leaving on April 1 of this year. *shakes head* I'm still pinching myself to make sure it's real...

*stares in open-mouthed wonder*

Took Ben to see the ZsaZsa Zaturnnah musical today, and it was awesome. (Thank you, God, for giving me such a lovely, tolerant, open-minded boy. :D)

I /still/ didn't get to see the main cast's Dodong (Arnold Reyes), but I'm not really complaining about getting Janvier Daily again. He really, really, looks like Takuma Sugawara (see my icon for comparison). :9

Anyway, the point of this post is not to squee about the musical again (however much I want to), but to share these pictures with the rest of my treasured f-list. Did some research when I got home, and really, Janvier Daily is several kinds of hot. *____*

***

And to put things into squee-worthy context: The crux of this lovely, lovely musical had Daily making out with this guy:

Tuxqs Rutaquio, who is quite frankly one of the most beautiful men I have ever seen. See him in drag for a previous role in last year's "Temptation Island Live" (a theater adaptation of a really old local film) below:

There is only one real woman in this group. I'm not sure which one it is.

That is all. :D

ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Music/Download/Translation Post! :D

Mission accomplished! XD

These are fairly high-quality rips of the 2-disc ZsaZsa Zaturnnah musical soundtrack, so they're perfect for sticking on your i-pod. XD All ZsaZsa Zaturnnah merchandise is unavailable abroad, (which is the reason why I'm sharing this), but if you have the chance to buy them, please do. :) (To the other Filipinos on my f-list: Feel free to DL as well, but please purchase the CDs when you have the chance. ;D)

I also scanned in the booklet pages with pictures, but a lot of them were only lyrics so I left those out. The songs are predominantly Filipino, but there are a few which are completely in English. (Zaturnnah's nemesis-- Queen Femina Suarstellar Baroux-- is a feminist fashionista alien, so all her songs are in English. XDDD)

SENDSPACE MUSICAL UPLOADS:
Disc A: http://www.sendspace.com/file/a7dq9x
Disc B: http://www.sendspace.com/file/pbn6s9

ZsaZsa Zaturnnah: A Quick Summary

Disc A
Track 1: Prologue
This track sets the tone for the story. It's basically just a voice-over by Ada, where he muses about his thoughts on life, love, and his sexuality. XD ("Bakla" means "gay" in Filipino. This word pops up a lot during the musical.)

Track 2, 3, 4: Parlorista ng Bayan (Hairdresser of the Nation)

This is Ada, the main character. He is the gay proprietor of a beauty salon in the province. The first three singing tracks basically introduce him and his role in society. (He's the town's favourite object of gossip because he's gay.).

Track 5: Babae Na Ako (I'm A Woman!!)
This is the song that Ada sings when he becomes ZsaZsa. (A stone drops onto his head while he's singing (badly) in the shower. XD Didi, his employee and sidekick goads him into swallowing it. (because of a local superhero myth regarding "Darna", where a kid eats a stone and turns into a wonder woman-type heroine. Zsazsa is basically a parody of this.)

Track 6: Walang Ibang Pangarap Kundi Siya (No Other Goal But Him)
A really lecherous song sung by Didi about Dodong, the boy-next-door whom Ada is not-so-secretly in love with. :D Dodong later on joins in, singing about how his ideal lover is kind and quiet and strong, but different as well. (He is obviously singing about Ada.)

Track 7: Nakakalokang Palakang Kokak (This is a play on words, but the literal translation is "This Croaky Frog That Makes Me Crazy") T___T I suck at translating.
Ada's first challenge as Zaturnnah comes in the form of a giant frog rampaging across the village. She kicks ass, of course. :D

Track 8: The Amazonistas from Planet XxX
This track is all in English, so it's probably self-explanatory. :) It's the intro of Zaturnnah's nemesis. (Right after this, Queen Femina invites Zaturnnah to join her in conquering the world. Zsazsa says no, and the Amazonistas tell her that they'll be tossing another test her way. The test turns out to be forcing ZsaZsa to battle zombies, which leads to the next track:)

Track 9: Huwag Na Huwag Niyo Siyang Babastusin (Don't You Ever Molest Him!!)
Sung by Didi. Zaturnnah and Didi go to the graveyard to fight the zombies and Dodong joins them there. Zaturnnah is distracted during the battle, and Didi and Dodong are left to fend for themselves. The zombies immediately try to molest (hehehehe) Dodong, and Didi is spurred into action. He kicks zombie ass and attempts to molest Dodong himself. (hahahahaha)

Track 10: Panalo Na Ako (I've Won!)
Zaturnnah's victory/gloating song after kicking ass. She is suddenly stopped by a familiar-looking zombie who turns out to be her dead father.

Track 11: Multo Ng Nakaraan (Ghost of the Past)
A rather sad song by Ada, Zaturnnah, and his father. Basically, Ada/Zaturnnah tries to tell his dad that he turned out okay even though he's gay, but his dad won't hear accept any of it. He tears himself apart rather than accept Ada for who he is. ;___;

Track 12: Laman Sa Laman, Buto sa Buto (Flesh to Flesh, Bone to Bone)
A chorus song sung by the zombies as they get mass on the church (where Zaturnnah and the townspeople are making their final stand).

Track 13: Victoria! Winner! Tagumpay! (Victory! Winner! Winner! (in Filipino))
Sung by Zaturnnah after she leads the townspeople to victory against the zombies. The latter part of this is also the ZsaZsa theme. :D "Ang Pangalan Niya Ay ZsaZsa" = "Her Name Is ZsaZsa"

Disc B
Track 1 and 2: Magsasalpukan Na! (Kick-Ass Time) Or something like that... ^_^;;
Sung by the chorus. This is right after the intermission, and ZsaZsa has gained fame after defeating the zombies. The people are now placing bets on her upcoming battle with the Amazonistas. XD Half of them think she'll win, the other half say that the foreigners are 'healthy' and that they'll kick her ass.

Track 3: Battle Transmorphication Number
Again, sung by the Amazonistas in English. Femina's four cohorts are named after popular Filipino divas: Sharon Cuneta, Dina Bonavie, Vilma Santos, and Nora Aunor. During their level-up, they sing in the manner that the real-life divas are known for. (i.e. Dina has a horrible voice, hence the breaking glass and crap singing. Nora has really bad diction in English, Sharon is an over-acting megastar, etc.)

Track 4: Nakikita Ko Na Ang Nakakasilaw Na Ilaw (I Can See the Blinding Light)
Sung by Didi as ZsaZsa cradles him in her arms. Queen Femina gets past Zaturnnah and shoots Didi, so this is basically Didi's death number. (Except he's not really dead, he just falls asleep.) ^_^;;

Track 5: Ang Pagmumuni-muni ni ZsaZsa (ZsaZsa Hanging Out/Waiting) this word is really hard to translate...
This is after ZsaZsa has left Didi to Dodong (to bring to the clinic), and she has retreated to a closed-down factory outside the village. While she is waiting for the Amazonistas, she sings about how she's always getting beat up now that she's Zaturnnah, and that being a superhero is a tough job. She also reflects that if she loses the power to change, she'll probably be better off as simple Ada.

Track 6: Prepare To Meet Your Doom
Sung by Queen Femina after she and the Amazonistas kick ZsaZsa's ass. As Zaturnnah is badly beaten, Queen Femina launches into song. XD

ZsaZsa uses this time to cough up the stone, (thus turning him back into a man and weakening him even further), and during the confusion (the amazonistas can't believe so valiant a warrior was male), he stuffs the stone down Femina's throat. The amazonistas turn on her when she turns into a man and take her back to the ship for castration. ^_^;;

Dodong then finds Ada in his beaten-up state and carries him back to the village in secret. (He doesn't want anyone to see Ada like this.) :3

Track 7: Ikaw Ang SuperHero Ng Buhay Ko (You Are the SuperHero of My Life)
It is some weeks later and Didi has recovered from getting shot. Ada is preparing to leave the province to go back to Manila, and Dodong comes by to see him. Ada initially tries to brush him off, but Dodong tells him that he's asked his parents for permission to go with Ada to Manila. He then gives him flowers and sings this song. :D

"SuperHero" is basically about how Dodong thinks that the measure of a man doesn't come from being machismo, but by the promises of his heart. He also says that out of all the people that he's met, only Ada has made him feel like this. Even though Ada can't fly anymore, he is more than capable of travelling great distances. Distances that Dodong wishes to travel with him. ;_____; (Utterly sappy song, but I can't help but love the fact that it's so corny...)

Track 8: Ayoko Nang Mabuhay Ng Ganito (I Don't Want To Live Like This Anymore)
Sung by Ada, about his past battles and the loss of the stone. He's now a normal person, and it's about time he decides whether or not he'll get on with his life (and accept Dodong's love), or continue hiding his heart from the rest of the world. He doesn't give Dodong an answer.

Track 9: Ikaw Ang SuperHero Ng Buhay Ko Reprise (You Are the SuperHero of My Life)
Dodong then answers his doubts by singing the reprise of track 7. XD It's basically more of the same, but with added declarations of love. :3 Needless to say, Ada caves:

The musical basically ends with the kiss, while the chorus comes out and dances around them waving flower wreathes and generally being romantic and lovely. :D

Track 10, 11, and 12: Bonus tracks. ^_^

More images from both musical and movie can be found at my ZsaZsa Zaturnnah site here: http://trinitycross.net/zsa

Oh, and if you liked the cd, please consider joining the ZsaZsa Zaturnnah fanlisting. XD I got authorized to run it this morning, so it's still quite empty... ^_^;;

Click to join!

(Ada and his sidekick Didi. The actor who plays Ada is such a pretty, pretty guy-- the scenes with him in pink spandex post-change are hilarious. XD)

I've been waiting for YouSendIt to finish uploading my ZsaZsa Zaturnnah musical CD rips, but it says that I still have four and a half hours to wait. T___T Can anyone recommend a decent file share service? It's only 66mb, but yousendit is totally busting my chops. ;____;

In other news, I finally finished my ZsaZsa Zaturnnah fansite. So if you want to read my detailed synopses of the comic and check out pictures from the musical and movie, go here: http://www.trinitycross.net/zsa

I don't know if I'll have the time to translate the non-English songs from the musicals (75% of them are in Filipino), so you might want to familiarize yourselves with the stories before downloading.

Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah (Ze Musical)

So. I've been a fan of the Filipino (superhero) comic Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah for a while now, but somehow I'd never found the time to actually catch one of its musicals. I did catch the movie that came out last December, though, and I thought it was a pretty decent rendition. When I heard that they were running the musicals yet again this month, I realized that I *had* to watch it. I went with Tet and Rae and much fun was had by all, and the cast was even kind enough to stay by the doors to pose for pictures and sign autographs. *squee* (Pictures behind the cut).

For the uninitiated, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah is a local comic about a young gay man (Ada) who owns a beauty parlor in the province. He becomes the gorgeous (and busty) Super Heroine Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah when he swallows a magical stone (pink and phallical, no less XD), and saves the general populace from random evil stuff. His love interest is Dodong, a young provincial man who tends his family's store (and has a crush on Ada's female alter-ego, Zsa Zsa).

The comic itself is already hilarious, but the musical-- with the sights, sounds, and costumes-- just makes it even better. :D And of course, the ending is lovely and poignant because when Ada eventually loses the stone (as well as his power to change into a woman), Dodong loves him anyway.

The final kiss between Ada and Dodong wasn't shown in the comic or the movie, so you can imagine that I went /absolutely/ NUTS when they kissed in the musical. :3 And it helped that the part of Dodong was played by a young man who is a dead ringer for Takuma Sugawara wtf. *_______*

In any case, you can read more about Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zsazsa_Zaturnnah

Tet with a deathgrip on Janvier Daily, the guy who plays Dodong.

Rae with Eula Valdes (Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah, the most beautiful woman I have ever seen up close) and Tuxqs Rutaquio (Ada, who is my role-model because he kicks so much ass just by being himself).
Smallville, Season 6, Episode 11: "Justice"

I have been eagerly anticipating this week's Smallville Episode for weeks now, solely for the fact that it features the beginnings of the Justice League: Clark, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Impulse (was supposed to be Flash but they got into legal crap so...), and Cyborg.

I was SO not disappointed. The action was riveting and the boys were (as usual) buffed up and shiny in their lovely costumes. What I did NOT expect, however, was all the slashy subtext between the Leaguers themselves. XD I mean, I'd seen hints of Clark/Impulse way back during his first appearance (season 4, episode 5), and then Clark/Green Arrow during the first half of the sixth season, but... wow.

I think it's actually possible to slash everybody with everybody here. It's like a regular prince of tennis episode where all the guys have more chemistry with each other than the women they profess to be in love with.

So goeth a conversation between Aquaman and Cyborg:

Aquaman: Dude, what took you so long?
Cyborg: *looks at roomfull of unconscious security guys* Nice... but please, put a shirt on.
Aquaman: I swim faster when I'm naked.
Cyborg: I bet you do.
Aquaman: You're lucky I still got my pants on.

I snorted water up my nose when I heard that, I swear to God. XD

In any case, downloads available via bittorrent here: http://piratebay.org
Just search for "Smallville". :D

Clark and Impulse

Clark and Green Arrow

My, my. With all the saving-each-other thing going on, I'm surprised they manage to find time to save civilians. XD

Green Arrow and Aquaman

The boys, minus Impulse
Look, an anon meme!

The 'Tell Me What to Create' AnonyMeme!

The rules are simple. You comment with your username, and people can tell you what they want to see you write. Or draw, or vid, or icon, whatever. Despite the name, they don't have to do it anonymously, though of course they certainly can. You then go through the comments and if you see that person who you've always wanted to write a Green Arrow AU set in the Terror, where Ollie is a Scarlet Pimpernel-esque figure, smuggling people out of Paris, then you tell them that they should write it.

Artists/writers/vidders are under no obligation to actually create these things, of course. But those memes are always fun when they go 'round and, well, I don't know about you, but I have no shame left and am fully willing to call a spade a spade: TELL ME WHAT TO <strike>WRITE</strike> PAINT, PLEASE!

I did this one because I liked the Green Arrow example, lol. Bonus points for giving me a Smallville prompt! XD

I am here: http://juleskicks.livejournal.com/933915.html?thread=4408347#t4408347

The semester's nearing its final stages, and it's time for me to start buckling up. He-llo, Loss of Freedom. XD

In other news, a Japanese exchange student found his way to the dojo last week, and Ben was kind enough to recommend him to me as a Nihongo tutor. I've been having some difficulty with it as of late, so hopefully he'll be able to help me out a bit. :) We'll see...

Also got a rush print AD job today, (which I am eternally grateful for), but again-- bye bye free time. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, and I should get my ass in gear again, anyway.

*v-sign*

Sometimes I wish I could behave less like myself, but to do so would make me someone else.

Did this Tryptich for the living room a while back, but I've only recently gotten around to taking a photo of it. I'd go on about symbolism and the importance of both representational and non-representational (or modern) styles in the world of art, but I figure it's best to just paraphrase everyone's favourite crazy man:

"That, my dear, is not a tree. It is a painting."

Cork ground, gold acryllic base, black and red acryllic.
Uploaded to my LJ Scrapbook.
New Haircut, because I cannot leave it alone...

I think that the thing with me and my hair is that I just can't be satisfied with it. Like, /ever/. I'll probably stop once I'm bald, and hell, this is close enough to that. ^_^;;

So, last year's hair recap was: black, blonde, red, then some weird mixture of orange (because of the bleached hair and the lightening of the red). In the middle of that, I also got my hair cut rather oddly (which there are no pictures up of, because they're terrible), and now I'm back to my natural black (with a smidgen of leftover red/orange from the fading dye job).

Of course, the question here is-- what have you done NOW, Trin? Well. I went back to black because no hairstylist would touch my predominantly dead hair lest it fall out, so... I had it all cut off. All of it.

Old hair, for reference:

Got my Spring Fluff assignment today, and I spent a solid 5 seconds staring at it, unopened, in my inbox. (Yes, I am a dork about things like this.)

When I opened it, I was pleasantly surprised at the possibilities. Two of the five pairings were on my "Can't Write" list, so that narrowed my choices down some. Now I'm hovering between my two final pairing choices, because I can see merit in writing either.

*consternation*

Both pairings require quite a bit of research on my part, (always a good thing), though one would require a bit more than the other. Choices, choices.

XD) These are for serenia, lethanon, and pixxers. (Supposedly New Year's bookmarks, but yeah. Almost two weeks late, thank you very much. ;______;

But, I did them all in markers (yay) and pen and ink. :3 Hope you like, girls~! :D

(The gayness of the border is only outweighed by Atobe himself. I teared up when I read your card, I really did. ;____; And the drawing that the pixies made /really/ made me cry. I think my mother-instinct is going into overdrive (must...have...children... XD). Thank you thank you thank you so much. (And the letter opener was awesome and it is now my default tool (instead of my teeth) for opening letters. :D) I miss you... ;____;

Katja- You were absolutely right, darling. I loved the Tachibana/Kamio drawing you made and literally squee'd out loud when I saw it. ;_______; Thank you so much! :D

Veronique- Thank you so so much for the card and the tenipuri stickers! :D I loved the little snowflakes you stuck to the card, and the fat, green candle you drew was so cute~! XDDD *hugs* Thank you~! :DDD

Christ.

Back at the net cafe (and whee, look at my shiny new icons), but the only available table with a plug was in the smoking area. Sealed room, air conditioning up to full, I think my eyes may start bleeding from the smoke. T_T

Anyway, I'm sure you're all tired of hearing me complain by now, so here, have a pimp to an awesome Fic/Art Exchange coming up:

spring_fluff

There are a /lot/ of sign-ups and a lot of great prompts. I caught myself ogling some of the rare pairs and hoping I get them, lol. Anyway, what are you waiting for? Cut-off is on the 10th, so have at it, kids! XD

Also, I spent last night doodling and I was happy enough with the result to make it my new default icon. Click on the image to view the larger version. :D

I am about to go MAD.

So. The good news is that we have DSL working at home, but the bad news is that it is moving at a bitterly slow pace.

To everyone that I haven't yet replied to-- this is because I keep getting 404s whenever I try to comment/reply or check mail. I have to get net access at Seattle's Best through GlobeQuest's wifi just to get a decent signal (I'm assuming their lines weren't that affected by the earthquake), and it's twice as expensive than regular net cafes.

I have prince of tennis art on the way, I just haven't managed to upload them without timing out. BASTARDS.

That said, I will go drown myself in overpriced coffee now. >:(
