The Impala's Trunk

I decided to take today off, as Klaine slept over the night before to work on Red Threads commissions and projects. We managed to get a lot of work done between the two of us, hence the resulting unclenching of my entire body. *breathes marginal sigh of relief*

Read through my F-list a bit, drew a bit, and am now trying to finish various bits and pieces of fic. It's been so long since I wrote a story that I didn't need for my thesis or an RT project or whatever, and it's a strange and somewhat daunting experience. Heh.

I'm trying to decide if I want to post the Tezuka/Oishi art I drew, as it's a little different from what I usually draw. Lol. (The style is pretty much my regular fare, but dood. I drew TezuOishi wtf. XDDDD)

The colors are a little washed-out because I've been using my camera phone for the past month or so, but thankfully I dont have to do that anymore. :D My dad was kind enough to give me my birthday present in advance so I wouldn't have to wait til the end of the month. Hee. Unfortunately, all the plushies had already been shipped so I wasn't able to reshoot, but... yeah. There you go. XD

In any case, Jack Sparrow was insanely fun to make. LOVE.

It's been a trying, tiring, weepy, past few days.

Red Threads had a dissatisfied client over a particularly difficult art commission, and I've been alternating between being so-tired-that-I-want-to-just-fucking-quit and just plain tired. I miss seeing the girls face-to-face... drawing together is what used to make this /fun/. Now we see each other to drop off pencils or inks or colors, and that's just if we're lucky. Mostly we just email each other our assignments. ^__^;;

Maybe it's the human contact I miss. Whenever I have a lot of work, I tend to hole myself up and don't leave unless I have a class. (And yay, today was my final mid-term. Bon voyage, marketing class! :D)

Still, there is a silver lining in all clouds, and mine is on Tuesday this coming week. That's the final shipping date for every standing plushie order that Red Threads has due, and I am so relieved I could /dance/. :) I was even able to put in free gifts in all the packages (as an apology for our lateness), and soon I will be free! :D (I got to make Jake Sparrow! And Clark Kent! Woohoo. Pictures soon.)

Spent today rebooting the Red Threads website, and I'm happy with how clean it looks.



Now off to finish up various commissions-- art, plushie, and otherwise-- and study up for tomorrow's marketing class. Heh. I'm mildly depressed that the weather is behaving very badly right now, and my sleep cycles keep getting messed up because of the cold. I tend to sleep longer when it's like this, and I hate the fact that I'm not able to spend enough time working because of it.

*sighs* Ah, well. Can't win them all, I suppose.

Whew! I'm spamming tonight, but I promise this is the last one. :D Finished taking pictures of all the plushies that need to be shipped tomorrow (that's 14 in all, finished right on deadline!), and I feel as if a great crushing pressure has been lifted from my shoulders.

Big typhoon = no classes, and I basically spent the past two days working my little ass off for Red Threads. I am immeasurably happy because of this, as I was able to finish cutting and painting a record-breaking ten plushie heads. Not my average 2 or 3, but 10. 10!!!

*deliriously happy*

Also started coloring a couple of POT prints/postcards for Yaoi!Con, and I'm /this/ close to finishing the colors on Ellaine's back-breaking Gundamn Wing print. (Thank you, darling, for putting all those goddamn floating feathers. T_T)

Also putting up a new icon, because I realized I had space for one more! :D *sighs happily*

I love being on schedule. I love being able to finish work. I am in SUCH a good mood. :D

Just got back from Lights Out: the Philippine Yaoi Convention. It was a fun, small con, and between the BL anime viewing, contests, and the engaging discussions, I had a really great time. (Kudos to the mods for discussing the nature of fandom and the suggested etiquette of it all (i.e. we're all fans regardless of age, seniority, and preferences; live and let live, yeah?))

Red Threads also had a booth there, and we were able to sell prints, bromides, and more custom plushies. (Yay target market). XDDD

The organizers were great, and it's always fun to meet my LJ friends in person. *glomps kotomine* XD

It's been a tiring, tiring week.

Thank you so much to my F-list for giving words of support and hugs when I left. You guys will never know how grateful I am for your kindness. ;_;

In other news, the comic book launch last Sunday went okay. The Otaku Manga Zine's printers were able to pick up the colors pretty well, (there were a lot of typos that the editor missed, though), but all in all I was pretty pleased with the turn-out. (The entire book is in Taglish. -_-;; And no, Red Threads had nothing to do with any of the scripts.)

The launch was on the same day that the Mall of Asia first opened, so it was incredibly packed. (There was a lot of stuff going on in other parts of the mall.) Wikkipedia lists the Mall of Asia as the third largest mall in the world, which I find ironic because it is stuffed into a very tiny country. XD

In any case, here are sample pages of the two stories we worked on: Always and Zodiac. (I removed the dialogue for obvious reasons.)

Red Threads will be appearing at the official Otaku Manga Zine comic book launch at the Mall of Asia, Philippines on May 21, 2006. The manga-zine is a publication of Psicom and is the official manga counterpart of the anime mag "Otakuzine".

The launch begins at 10am at Toy Kingdom.

Red Threads worked on two of the four series running on the mangazine, "Zodiac" and "Always".

aduial_peredhel: We've finished your plush commission, but we weren't sure if this is what you wanted. We followed the exact shade of the scans you sent us, but his skin came out a little bit pasty compared to other plushies. ;_; (This is because the mangaka uses watercolors with her colored work, and it always comes out lighter than usual...)

If this skin tone is all right with you, we'll mail out your plushie first thing tomorrow morning. However, if you want us to change his skin tone to a more orange-y type of cloth, we'll need to take a day or two to redo his head. It's really up to you. Thank you! :)
